Hopkins Solicitors are at the forefront of the schools law web, a nationwide initiative which helps school pupils understand the legal system and the wide variety of work that lawyers undertake. The firm are pleased to have nominated The Sutton Centre Community College in Ashfield and Burton Joyce Primary School in Nottingham for the scheme.

David Winnett, head of family law at our Nottingham office, confirmed the firm is happy to lend its support because the project not only helps pupils understand the vital role law plays in our society but also reminds young people that laws bring responsibilities as well as rights. Moreover, it introduces pupils to legal concepts and terms they will encounter later in life.

The scheme helps busy teachers by supplying weekly classroom materials. These are ready-to-go and use current news stories to focus upon important matters of law along with many other aspects of citizenship.

Project Director, Patrick Gaffney, thanked David Winnett and his colleagues saying, "We can only make a difference in schools if we gain the support of the wider community. I am extremely grateful to Hopkins for coming on board."

Margaret Gretton, Head Teacher of Burton Joyce Primary School, said she was delighted to hear of the Hopkins nomination and felt the supply of teacher-friendly materials would prove very useful.

Meanwhile, speaking on behalf of Sutton College, Lindsay Trayler, head of business and law said, "We are very grateful for the nomination by Hopkins Solicitors and look forward to using the imaginative project materials with students. This is another example of the great support the firm has given to the college in recent times."
