Collaborate Family Law

Hopkins Solicitors are one of only a handful of Nottinghamshire Solicitors who practice Collaborative Law. David Winnett, Partner at Hopkins, is a trained Collaborative Lawyer and heads our Family Law team.

Collaborative Family Law is a new approach begun by family lawyers to manage the divorce or separation process in a dignified manner. In the collaborative process, the family lawyers and their clients agree in writing to reach settlement without court involvement.

Mediation

Our family department also offers mediation services which can be used to resolve certain disputes such as:

  • To resolve arrangements for children
  • To allocate a family's resources for separation/arrange for future financial provision
  • To jointly determine what goes in any Court papers/divorce documents

Fixed Fee First Appointment

Your first appointment with us will cost you only £90, for this you will have up to an hour with a family law specialist who will discuss your case with you and offer advice, you will also receive a follow up letter confirming the advice that was given to you. If you wish us to carry out any further work following the initial appoinitment, you will be charged at our normal hourly rates.

If you are eligible for legal aid your first appointment and any subsequent advice will be free (providing you bring proof of your eligibility for legal aid to your first appointment).
