Trainee Solicitor or Paralegal (including part-time LPC)

Hopkins Solicitors LLP is one of the leading North Nottinghamshire firms of solicitors employing 73 employees across four offices, 2 in Mansfield, 1 in Sutton in Ashfield and 1 in Nottingham.

We are currently looking to recruit at least two Trainee Solicitors or Paralegals.

Hours of Work: Full-time; Monday–Friday (inclusive) from 9.00am–5.00pm with an hour for lunch

We are a full service law firm and the successful candidate will be exposed to a full range of work during the period of their training contract.

Applications will be considered from individuals who are looking for either a formal training contract, a paralegal position or someone who wishes to obtain their LPC on a part-time basis. We have always adopted a flexible approach to these issues.

The Role

Objective

As part of our commitment as a training provider we endeavor to provide the trainee solicitor or paralegal with the training, guidance and experience necessary to enable them to develop the key skills and expertise required by the SRA to become a qualified, experienced solicitor, legal executive or paralegal.

The key objectives required to fulfil a training contract are as follows:

It is necessary for you to be confident in dealing with clients and other professionals.

You need to provide a valuable contribution to the work of each department to which you have been allocated a seat, to assist each training principal with their daily workload and to provide practice support both departmentally and generally within the firm.

If selected for a training contract, the duration of the Training Contract is 2 years, in which you will be given the opportunity to gain training and experience in at least three substantive areas of English Law, covering both contentious and non-contentious work.

If selected for a part-time LPC, the candidate will work for 2 years during which time they will complete their LPC on a part-time basis, alongside their training contract.

The ideal candidate for this role must have the following:

All relevant training will be given.

The interview process will consist of a two stage process.

Initially we will have a full day assessment of our chosen shortlisted candidates whereby interviewees will be assessed in a group meeting environment. This will then be followed by a 1-1 interview.
