Hopkins CSR strategy encourages us to make a positive impact, beyond the interests and requirements of our firm, including its impact on clients, employees, environment and communities.

To our Local Young People’s Education

Hopkins has always hired local apprentices and trainees, encouraging students and young learners to not only gain real world working experience, but to see first-hand the positive impact a responsible law firm can make to its local community.

Many of our Partners and Solicitors sit on educational boards to help local schools and universities understand how to best responsibly support their students and families.

To our Local Charities & Communities

Hopkins supports multiple charities, both locally and nationally, and our teams take part in various fun fundraising events throughout the year. Each office and department is encouraged to choose their charity of the year and find ways they can both help raise fund and awareness for that charity.

We also work very closely with local charities that support our clients that are most in need, especially in regards to homelessness, domestic violence and illness.

These are just some of the local charities and organisations we actively support and work with: CAFCASS, Derbyshire Domestic Violence and Sexual Abuse Services, Equation, Framework, Home-Start, Mansfield and Ashfield Women’s Aid, Nottinghamshire Independent Domestic Abuse Services, Nottinghamshire Women’s Aid, Relate, Sutton Women’s Centre, Women’s Aid Integrated Services.

For the last 20 years Hopkins has been offering our community free drop in advice clinics and taken on low income clients via Legal Aid. We know not everyone can afford legal advice, but that quite often these are the people in our community that need it the most.

Hopkins also offers free educational seminars available to all community groups to come in and answer questions about Family and Children Law, Employment Law, Housing Law, Conveyancing for first time buyers, Personal Injury and Medical Negligence, and Wills, Trusts, LPAs and Probate.

Hopkins is a founding and active member of Mansfield 2020 which is a network of the 170 strongest businesses in the area with the core goal of helping grow and connect local businesses in the Mansfield and Ashfield communities.

We have also been a long-standing member of the UK’s largest Chamber, the East Midlands Chamber of Commerce, which covers the Derbyshire Nottinghamshire Leicestershire regions and has over 4,000 members that help to support the local economy.

But in the end it’s all about who we purchase our supplies and services from, and Hopkins prides itself on always buying from local businesses, which truly helps support our local economy.

To our Environment

With regard to the environment, Hopkins is committed to meeting and exceeding all environmental legislation requirements, investigate how the use of technology can reduce our impact on the environment, particularly with regards to energy and resource efficiency with a focus on recycling rather than disposal. The firm operates a Switch Off policy to minimise energy consumption.

We are a ‘paper-lite’ firm, meaning our staff make every effort to process our files electronically by scanning and saving doucmentation into our systems and by emailing our clients and other professionals whenever possible. This has significantly reduced our carbon footprint and the amount of paper we use.

To our Staff

Hopkins is held the Investors in People standard from 2003-2022. This standard defined what it took to lead, support and manage people for sustained success. Successful accreditation against the Investors in People Standard was the sign of a great employer, an outperforming place to work and a clear commitment to sustainability.

We treat our staff exactly as we treat our clients, giving them the support they need to ensure they are able to do their jobs to the best of their abilities, with flexibility in their working hours to ensure they have a sustainable work-life balance.

We are also proud of our staff’s diversity, view our Diversity Data results to find out what percentage of us are young vs mature or how many of us were first generation university students! Hopkins Staff Diversity Data 2021
