Hopkins Promise to the Community
Hopkins Corporate, Social, Responsibility strategy encourages us to make a positive impact, beyond the interests and requirements of our firm, extending to our clients, employees, the environment and the communities we serve.
To our Local Young People’s Education
Hopkins Solicitors have always hired local apprentices and trainees, encouraging students and young learners to work for us, not only to gain real world working experience, but to see first-hand the positive impact a responsible law firm can make to its local community.
Many of our Partners and Solicitors sit on educational boards to help local schools and universities understand how to best support their students and families.
To our Local Charities & Communities
Hopkins supports multiple charities, both locally and nationally, and our teams take part in various fun fundraising events throughout the year. Each office and department is encouraged to choose a charity of interest each year and find ways they can both help raise money and increase awareness.
We also work very closely with local charities that support our clients that are most in need, especially regarding homelessness, domestic violence and illness.
These are just some of the local charities and organisations we actively support and work with: CAFCASS, Derbyshire Domestic Violence and Sexual Abuse Services, Equation, Framework, Home-Start, Mansfield and Ashfield Women’s Aid, Nottinghamshire Independent Domestic Abuse Services, Nottinghamshire Women’s Aid, Relate, Sutton Women’s Centre, Women’s Aid Integrated Services, Broxtowe Women’s Project, NIDAS.
For the last 20 years Hopkins have been offering our community free drop in advice clinics (for certain services) and taken on low income clients via Legal Aid, depending on their circumstances. We know that legal advice can be costly, but everyone in our community deserves the same access to it.
Hopkins also offer free educational seminars available for community groups to come in and answer questions about Family and Children Law, Employment Law, Housing Law, Conveyancing for first time buyers, Personal Injury and Medical Negligence, and Wills, Trusts, LPAs and Probate.
To our Local Businesses
Hopkins is a founding and active member of Mansfield 2020, which is a network of the 170 strongest businesses in the area with the core goal of helping grow and connect local businesses in the Mansfield and Ashfield communities.
We have also been a long-standing member of the UK’s largest Chamber, the East Midlands Chamber of Commerce, which covers the Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire regions, and has over 4,000 members that help to support the local economy.
Hopkins prides itself on always buying from local businesses, which we hope will help contribute to supporting the local economy.
To our Environment
With regard to the environment, Hopkins is committed to meeting and exceeding all environmental legislation requirements, investigating how the use of technology can reduce our impact on the environment, particularly with regard to energy and resource efficiency, with a focus on recycling rather than disposal. The firm operates a ‘Switch Off’ policy to minimise energy consumption.
We are currently working towards the Green Membership award of Investors in the Environment. Investors in the Environment (iiE) is a national environmental accreditation scheme that is designed to help organisations save time and money and reduce their impact on the environment.
To our Staff
Hopkins is proud to have held the Investors in People standard since 2003. This standard defines what it takes to lead, support and manage people for sustained success. Successful accreditation against the Investors in People Standard is the sign of a great employer, an outperforming place to work and a clear commitment to sustainability.
We treat our staff exactly the same as we treat our clients, providing them with the highest quality support possible to ensure they are able to do their jobs to the best of their abilities, with options for flexibility in their working hours to ensure they have a sustainable work-life balance.
We are also proud of our staff’s diversity, view our Diversity Data results to find out what percentage of us are young vs mature, what ethnicity or sex we are, or how many of us were first generation university students! Hopkins Solicitors Staff Diversity Data 2025
