Clarity, protection and a solid legal framework for trading

Standard Terms and Conditions (T&Cs) aren’t just formalities. They’re practical tools to manage risk, clarify obligations, create consistent contracting and ensure smooth day-to-day operations.

At Hopkins Solicitors, we don’t believe in one-size-fits-all templates. We’ll take the time to understand how your business works, who your customers are and where the risks lie, so we can create or review a set of T&Cs that truly reflect your business needs.

What’s Involved

Whether you’re starting from scratch or looking to update an existing document, our service typically includes:

  • An initial consultation – to understand your business model, commercial priorities and how you engage with customers.
  • Drafting or reviewing the T&Cs – to ensure they are legally robust, commercially practical and aligned with your operations.
  • Advice on how to effectively incorporate the T&Cs – whether online, in contracts or in person. The best set of T&Cs may not help you if it is not properly incorporated into the contract.
  • Tailored clauses – covering key areas such as payment terms, delivery, liability, cancellation, Intellectual Property rights such as copyright and trademark, dispute resolution and compliance with consumer or sector-specific regulations.

We work closely with you to ensure the final version protects your interests without creating unnecessary friction in your customer relationships.

Things to Consider

Before we start, it’s useful to think about:

  • Scope: Do your terms apply to all customers or are different sets needed?
  • How do you trade? Online, in person, business-to-business or business-to-consumer – all have different implications.
  • What could go wrong? We’ll help you identify and manage legal and commercial risks – understanding your pain points is a helpful start.
  • Incorporation: Are your terms properly brought to the attention of the other party before or at the point the contract is created?
  • Updates: Are your documents reviewed regularly to reflect changes in law or practice? You should see your terms as a working document that adapt to issues that you encounter.
